"At stake is the dignity of the human person, whose defense and promotion have been entrusted to us by the Creator"
-Saint John Paul II, Solicitude Rei Socialis
All human persons are created by God with Dignity. Humans
were created in the image and likeness of God. Regardless of any factors or
reasons we can think of, individuals have an inherent and immeasurable worth
and dignity; each human life is considered sacred.
OUR REAL WORTH AS A PERSON
WE ARE LOVE
WE ARE CALLED TO LOVE
HOW DEEP IS GOD'S LOVE FOR US?
God created us in his image and likeness
God the son became human like us.
God destined us for himself.
Human Dignity is The Basis of Fundamental Human Rights
Human dignity
is inviolable and it must be respected and protected. The dignity of the human
person is not only a fundamental right in itself, but constitutes the basis of
fundamental rights in international law.
The 1948 Universal
Declaration of Human Rights enshrined this principle in its preamble:
‘recognition of the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of
all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace
in the world’.
For this reason the dignity
of the human person is part of the substance of any right protected by
international human rights law. It must, therefore, be respected, even where a
right is restricted.
Fear to god! Seek first his kingdom.
